Profiles of classical guitar Julian Bream

Julian Bream is one of the most famous classical guitarists of the twentieth century and reached fame world, not only for the guitar, but also for his work with the Renaissance lute. It is considered one of the greatest ambassadors of the classical guitar and formed a solid bridge between the music of the past with today's technology. He helped usher the classical guitar in the modern age.

He was born in 1933 and took classical guitar for his eleventh birthday when he received a gift. He was already an accomplished musician who studied piano and cello, but with classical guitar and lute, he excelled.

Important Contributions

In 1960, he formed a group called the Julian Bream Consort. It was set in Elizabethan times for which Bream played the lute. The Consort has a renewed interest the Elizabethan era, which is regarded as a period of time that was the absolute top of the English Renaissance. His work with this group earned her a Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance. The prize would be the first of many awards including three more Grammy Awards.

One of the contributions more important it is for the world of classical guitar was his development of a comprehensive directory of performance. His transcriptions of works guitar and lute five centuries and has focused on parts of the Elizabethan lute and Spanish guitar works of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He also had many composers to create works especially for him.

Ambassador to the media Twentieth century

Bream has embraced television and radio and used these media to bring classical guitar and lute to a mass audience. His 2003 DVD video profile Julian Bream: My Life in Music, which is a three hour long piece, includes interviews and performances and is considered one of the finest contributions ever made to the world of classical guitar. He also created a British television series entitled Guitarra! It traces a musical journey through Spain.

If you are looking to experience some of his works, you can begin to work with working with John Williams. They are two volumes entitled "Together and Together Again. If you want a more comprehensive view of his music as it spans the decades it has two volume CD set called The Ultimate Guitar Collection. The first CD is a compilation of many of his transcriptions and the second CD focuses on his works for guitar Spanish.

Julian Bream is one of the greatest classics of modern times. His tireless performance and work with the guitar lasted several decades of personal performance and many centuries of music. He bridged the gap between past and future by giving us a huge repertoire of music in almost all modes of modern communication from the CD on television and film. And it is his special gift for transcription and interpretation that allowed him to bring five centuries of plucked instrument music in the modern world.

Who are some good acoustic guitar artist?

I recently just became interested in the acoustic guitar and am looking for some acoustic artist to expand my collection. Any suggestions?

Most of these are indie/folk sounding acoustics, just so you know. This is my absolute favorite kind of music.

John Mayer and The Rocket Summer have some of my favorite acoustics also, though most of their music isn’t. Listen to Mayer’s live CD, on the acoustic set, and “Goodbye Waves and Driveways” by the Rocket Summer.
